The New Home of the NEARA Library

After a very cordial and productive 15-year relationship with the Exeter Public Library, the NEARA Board of Directors has voted to accept an unexpected and very exciting opportunity to move our collection to the New Hampshire Technical Institute Library in Concord.  This move has improved the accessibility and utilization of our collection, placed it in a more central New England location and provided archival space as well as access to research materials via enhanced electronic formats.

Our collection is shelved as an integral unit in the stacks of the NHTI Library, and there is space for our filing cabinets and display case.  Our print and media titles are entered in an access database; archives are in proper files and available online, with copies available via FAX and in person.

Founded in 1961, The New Hampshire Technical Institute is a two-year college with an enrollment of about 4000. The new Library was built in 2001 and serves the community as well as the college.

All NEARA members may apply to become members the NHTI library and have access to all of the available services.  Our collection is in place and ready for use. Questions? Please ask Anne Wirkkala, Assistant Director of the Library

From Anne Wirkkala: We are happy to report that all 1016 titles in the NEARA Library Collection have been moved from Exeter to the New Hampshire Technical Institute Library in Concord. All books and multimedia titles have been added to the NHTI Library online catalog www.nhti.edu/library. Your NEARA membership entitles you to become a member of the NHTI community free of charge. Loan of library materials is available by walk-in request, by mail, email or FAX (for articles or copies), or van delivery for NH residents. Request forms for items you wish to borrow can be found on the NHTI Library webpage (under Reference Tools: Interlibrary Loan) or send a direct email request to me. Remember to mention that you are a NEARA member to expedite your request.

We welcome contributions to the NEARA collection.  Please weed your personal library and send along your donations. Unless you request that it not be done, gift plates will be added to all donated books.
